Saturday, June 3, 2006: Removing the bushes from around the house.

This Saturday's project was ripping all of the bushes out from in front of our house and along the side. Luckily, once again we had Virgil and some heavy equipment from Country Landscapes to help out. It only took two hours and these are the results. I hear that at some point soon there will be some wonderful replacements. :)

Some of those suckers were really in there good and required a lot of yanking with the loader and some chopping at the roots with a pick axe. There were a few good holes as a result.

Well, I guess these pictures don't really show the how ripped up the ground actually is...

A view of the front of the house sans bushes. It actually looks much better than expected, even before the area is cleaned up and new plants are put in.

Heheh. This is where Rufus spends many eventful hours watching the neighborhood perched on the back of the couch and the windowsill. Today's activities were VERY EXCITING for him! :)

The side of the house where another two bushes fell victim to our slaughter.

The line of corpses.

The loader that made it all possible. This thing kicks ass!

Now to figure out how to get rid of these things and then move onto phase two of the project: replacing them. Yipee!
