Saturday, December 15th
Arrived in Jaipur, the Pink City in the evening. Happily enough, at this point we were a mere 300 miles or so from Afghanistan!
Sunday, December 16th
The tour of Jaipur started with a drive into the hills to Amer Fort. Amer Fort is located up on a mountain, and the way up for tourists is on the backs of elephants. That was a pretty fun ride complete with monkeys along the way to greet us.
Amer Fort was situated in a very good location and had a great view and defensive position over the surrounding land.
Next, we made a quick stop at Jal Hahal, which was a small palace used somewhat like a hunting lodge for the king that built it. It's under renovation, so we could only see it from a distance.
Back to the hotel after that, then out for supper to a cool outdoor restaurant with some interesting entertainment. There were live musicians and dancers doing some traditional dances. Interesting enough, the name of the restaurant was 'Indiana' which we thought was a fluke but it turned out the owner graduated from Purdue.
After supper we hit the market for some more goods.
Monday, December 17th
Hit the road for Agra, in Uttar Pradesh to the east, first thing in the morning. Another five or six hours in the bus, but saw some good scenery along the way.
